for 17 years and an illustrator for about 20 more than that. (Yes, she started very young- in crayon). She lives and works in

live.

Lucia visits schools where
she consults with staff, runs training and works with
students.
She also works in early intervention with young children, mainly those
with the diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
Lucia loves what she does and is very passionate about
identification and management of children with language impairments.
She knows that these kids can find it so tough. Without the ability to
communicate well, these kids often take on behaviours that schools
and society at large, find unacceptable. So frequently they are branded
as "naughty". Communication is the key. Lucia is particularly
interested in autism, dyslexia and verbal dyspraxia. She gets a
buzz from seeing kids learn and knows that praise, encouragement and FUN
is what leads to learning. Motivation comes through success.
Lucia also loves an excuse to travel, so runs
training and delivers seminars to teachers, childcare staff and
teachers' aides around Australia. Her training is fun, practical
and always well-received. If you are interested, see training.
Finally, Lucia receives many emails
regarding speech, language and literacy. She attempts to answer them
all, but sometimes a referral to a speech pathologist is the best
recommendation. Remember that many free tipsheets are available on the
website. See
tipsheets and
autism. There are also some free pictures
here.
