LANGUAGE RESOURCES
PELICAN TALK currently has three language resources that
are used in early intervention and in schools. Both resources come with
loads of pictures for language work and pages of instructions and
suggested uses.
MY FIRST BARRIER GAMES

This resource not only works on concept development (big, small, top,
bottom and so on), but it also teaches the notion of referential
communication - that is, the idea that a listener does not
automatically know what you are thinking ; you have to make your messages
clear enough to "refer to them the information that you know." . This is the beauty of having a barrier in place.
Clear and specific language is promoted through barrier game activities.

FUN WITH SEQUENCES

This resource develops the concept of order and sequence. It is
unlike some sequence activities in that there are optional endings for
some of the sequences - the child can choose an end to the story.
The pictures can be printed out and made into cards or inserted into
slideshows if your child likes computers. Fun with Sequences teaches
time concepts as well, such as first, next, finally and so on.
